New Entrance Project

The new entrance project seeks to accomplish many things:

  1. To provide a more visitor friendly entrance to our Church.
  2. To provide covered entrances to both the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall.
  3. To remove the obstacles to the Sanctuary entrance posed by the myriad of columns and the large planter.
  4. To create an exterior plaza with decorative concrete. This provides a usable outdoor space for functions such as weddings, funerals, picnics, etc. The new plaza is wider and more noticeable from the parking lot.
  5. To improve the appearance of the one story portion of the building from the parking lot. The EIFS (exterior insulation finish system) will give a more attractive stucco-like appearance and add needed insulation to the present un-insulated block walls of the Fellowship Hall.

Image Description
New exterior plaza of decorative concrete with covered canopies at both entrances. The plaza extends out past the corner of the building into the parking lot to invite people towards the Church.
East elevation from the entrance drive. Note decorative metal roof canopy sheltering the Sanctuary entrance.
North elevation from the parking lot. New EIFS, an insulation and stucco-like coating, will make the Fellowship Hall much more attractive and energy efficient. The use of brick or colored EIFS at the Fellowship Hall building corner mimics the sloping lines of the Sanctuary and draws you towards it.

Loggia Removal

On May 15th, 2007, the loggia was removed to revitalize the main entrance. Look for cement work in early 2008!

Bathroom Renovation

We are happy to report that the renovation of the church bathrooms portion of our capital improvement plan started the week of November 27th! After approval at the November church council meeting, a contract was awarded to Barbalato Construction Co. – just down the road from us in Williamsville. The purpose of the project is to update the bathrooms and correct some plumbing problems we have been experiencing for some time.

Specifically the work includes the replacement of all the bathroom fixtures, plumbing piping, partitions, walls, flooring, doors, vanities and ceilings with new lighting.

Work continues on the renovation of the upstairs men's and women's bathrooms. As of 12/17, the old fixtures have been removed, new plumbing roughed in, the drywall has been installed, and the windows replaced. This coming week the walls will be painted a seafoam green in the women's bathroom and beige in the men's bathroom. New ceiling and floor installation, and new fixture with partitions installaion will follow over the next two weeks. We had planned for these bathrooms to be completed by Christmas but it looks like it will be closer to New Years. Renovation of the three downstairs bathrooms (i.e. the women's, men's and the handicap bathrooms) will then commence.
