Traditional Worship

If we had to use a single word to describe the spirit of our traditional worship, it would be “heritage.” These services are based upon the rich music and liturgical legacies of the Lutheran church. Visitors to our church always comment on our Traditional Worship's superb music. Our beautiful organ was recently refurbished and is played masterfully by our talented Music Director, Michael Burke. When the organ and choir are in full voice, the church reverberates with our songs of praise! When it comes time to share the body and blood of Christ, we alternate between communion distribution in the aisle and going up to the altar.

Join the Choir & Bell Choir

Like to sing? Want to be a bell ringer? No musical background is required – often what our members lack in musical training they make up for in common sense. You may not know us but we want to know you! Our Choir rehearsals are on Thursday evenings, 7:15pm at church. We sing at the late services, Sundays at 10:30am and take summer months off. Sometimes our talents are put to other uses, such as to perform solos, or in various small groups, or to make use of an instrumentalist’s ability. This past year, the choir retired our 20-year-old robes and we are now sporting classy new ones with reversible stoles. The Bell Choir rehearses periodically on Sunday mornings between the two services. No extra trips to the church for practice! Several of us are in both Choir and Bell Choir. Being a part of our St. John Choir gives you plenty of opportunity to get involved and enjoy the company of others. This is one of the many activities where lasting friendships are formed. To learn more, contact one of us after a service and introduce yourself. We look forward to it.
